The Vision
Epic Village is seeking to reach the "de-churched, un-churched, 25-45 year old 'New Urbanites.'" They have been meeting in public worship since 2007.
Todd writes the following:
My wife Barbie and I were taught, cared for and loved into a relationship with Jesus, by people who knew we were a mess but loved us because of their relationship with Jesus.
We are committed to make disciples that make disciples. We have been called to do this in urban Atlanta; to love people and make the Source of our love known to them.
We are focused on being part of the community and representing Jesus by His love and power. We do it in a way that missionaries have used throughout the years: we bring Jesus to the people of our area in the context of real relationships, in a way that makes sense to them based on their culture.
Loving Jesus makes us love people! Loving people starts with loving your neighbor and reaches around the world. We try to do this as a family living life together. And from the strength of that family, we serve the community and the world, drawing our passion from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer Requests
- For people to give their lives to Jesus here in our neighborhood For our people to be broken about the spiritual condition of those around them
- For a greater degree of intentional reaching out to neighbors by our group
- For a greater commitment by our group to pray for lost people around them
- For Christians in our group to raise their level of giving regarding time and resources
- For the development of our leadership, their personal walks, at all levels.
- For unity around the mission of ‘The Church’ and EPIC Village Church
- For our food ministry to be used of God to do great things by His standards
- For our meeting facility costs to stay the same as they are currently
- For our families and marriages to be focused on Christ and strengthened by Him
- For our community groups to multiply through out the year
- For our missions to Zimbabwe and Honduras For the spiritual protection of our leadership
- For grace to fill our lives so we have plenty to share.
Volunteer Needs
The Gospel enhances the quality of life. Any way that we can enhance the quality of life for the people of this area demonstrates God cares and we care. We want to do things that matter to the people here. If people are willing to serve with us, we can use the gifts they bring and create ways to use those gifts to display Christ in ways that make sense to our neighbors. All this to say if you want to come we will tailor the experience get maximum impact for the Gospel
Some examples would be:
- Providing volunteers for an art fair or neighborhood festival
- Community beautification projects, painting, planting and mulching or trash clean-ups
- Serving a local Boys and Girls club we have a relationship with.
- Serving local business owners by helping them with projects
All of these things while providing literature for EPIC Village and sharing our faith with them.
We would also like to have our people interact with mission team members as much as possible.
